D-CENT direct democracy and economic empowerment

The D-CENT tools enable citizens to be informed and get real-time notifications about issues that matter to them; propose and draft solutions and policy collaboratively; decide and vote on solutions and collective municipal budgeting; and finally implement and reward people with blockchain reward schemes. The tools can be combined in ways to support democratic processes.

For the historians out there, we have been researching on successful new political movements in EU with http://dcentproject.eu for the past 3 years, producing a lot of factual documentation, yet no party besides M5S or Pirates or Podemos have given much attention to this, not even democratic parties – perhaps because we as researchers were not part of their political and rather incestuous elites. Now let me paste here one speech, more than a year old, given by Bernie, for my US friends. And please do call us when you think you are ready to start something new.

“Let me be very clear. In my view, Democrats will not retain the White House, will not regain the Senate, will not gain the House and will not be successful in dozens of governor’s races unless we run a campaign which generates excitement and momentum and which produces a huge voter turnout.

With all due respect, and I do not mean to insult anyone here, that will not happen with politics as usual. The same old, same old will not be successful.

The people of our country understand that — given the collapse of the American middle class and the grotesque level of income and wealth inequality we are experiencing — we do not need more establishment politics or establishment economics.

We need a political movement which is prepared to take on the billionaire class and create a government which represents all Americans, and not just corporate America and wealthy campaign donors.

In other words, we need a movement which takes on the economic and political establishment, not one which is part of it.” ~ Bernie Sanders August 28th, 2015

What is D-CENT all about? What we do, why and how? Our Europe-wide project has brought together citizen-led organisations that have transformed democracy in the past years, and helped them in developing the next generation of open source, distributed, and privacy-aware tools for direct democracy and economic empowerment.
